Hi Sandra

Its interesting that you are getting so much traffic on a curated site. I think adding content that is mildly related rather than directly related to the primary keyword may help.

Include an image in the curated content and then leverage Pinterest for some links and maybe traffic as well.

Quantity of traffic may be less than for a big word but it all counts

I think the idea of content curation for certain sites has some legs. You never know just what is going to bring readers to your site.

One site I have that got hit hard for its main keyword is receiving traffic like crazy (for that site) for a keyword on a curated post. Never in my life would I have thought this.

Maybe the key is spending time adding other content on your site's topic that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the main keyword. Maybe? we can get enough traffic on other searches that will make up for losses on our main keyword. Maybe not.

Hi Ade
I have been killing sites off left and right and where possible changing the links in ezine articles to another site or removing the link altogether.

The $10 renewal isn't as bad as the time (and money) it takes to fix the sites. I think deciding to only build a site when you are committed to it is the best thing anyone can do now.

Thanks for coming along and sharing

Hi Wendy
I have seen a few of your sites and they always seem to have awesome content which just makes a joke of this whole "content is king" thing and good content will beat all else. Links are still going to matter, they just seem to be coming down hard on us for the types of links.

Not sure what to suggest other than take some time to look at the link profile and see if you can kill some of the links off and clean it up a bit. I find that usually people do not have any links that are not keywords, so adding a few links which are just your url may actually be a good idea.

Starting a new site in the same niche is one option but not sure how that idea sits with you

Hi Paul
Thanks for the like, as you say one of the big things is to actually use the services. No good having a an account on Facebook/Twitter if you do not use it.
With you being in the pet industry (love your site, superb design and I love the big commerce platform) I would think you could do great things on Facebook if you joined some pet related groups and shared advice and tips.

Don't go straight for the sale, look for ways to genuinely help people and you will find they follow you and trust you and that will lead to the sale.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the Video and points on gaining Facebook likes and Twitter followers. I have had accounts with FB, Twitter and LinkedIn for some time but struggle with doing posts, building followers, gaining likes and so on. I will definitely put your info to good use starting with liking you!

Thanks again,
Paul

Hi Paul, I have had sites with crappy links do ok and another one with white hat links and content drop off the face of the earth. Unfortunately this was my main money site since 2004. So all I have to say to Google is go and stick it where the sun don't shine.

Love your posts..
