Google Made A Change Big Surprise
So this is what happens when my mum comes to visit and I decide to chill for a while, Google do a change and the whole world starts falling in.
To be honest at first I ignored all the noise but it is getting crazy. Does anyone really expect them to change back just so you or me can make a few more bucks?
I started off with the idea for a short video and ended up with a not so short one. I talk about content and links and probably everything inbetween. I didn’t do any kind of run through so if there are gaps it may be my mouth trying to catch up with my brain, or vice versa.
I hope you enjoy the video, as always leave comments below, good, bad or otherwise.
Oh and while I am at it, I am working on a couple of new bits of software
Easy Spin Intro is ready apart from the images and good old clickbank, great little plugin which I will do more videos on and share them here soon.
The next bit of software is going to be to do with links and will fit in quite well with the rank tracker plugin. http://ranktrackerplugin.com/

Very informative video as always and thanks for the slap back into reality. I agree google is going to be google and if we are not willing to do things the right way and overcome then we need to pick up a spatula and go flip burgers.
Ron
This is all part of why I tell people to always stash some cash away in the draw, so when Google kick you in the goolies you have some fall back money to cover you while you work out the way forward.
Where I live I am not even sure there are jobs flipping burgers right now!
Thanks for the nice comments about the video
Paul
Paul, thanks for the quality and very timely information as a few of my sites are affected by the MayDay changes.
Whilst I am aware of all the things you mentioned, it’s so easy to “forget” about some of these tactics so thanks for the memo’s … and keep the videos coming ;o)
Cheers.
Hey Paul…
I am one of your Rank Tracker plugin users… nice job there!
I am gonna check the Easy Spin intro now, too.
I’ll let you know what I think.
Excellent video content you put up, BTW.
I have written a blog post about fear myself on my SciFi blog here:
Litany Against Fear
Be well,

See that comment deserves to be approved just because you link to a sci fi page!
I use the “fear is the mind killer” quote all the time but people just think I am the local crazy Englishman.
Glad you like the Rank Tracker, I am planning some more videos showing that in use with internal linking.
Paul
Interesting video, Paul. You certainly cover a lot of points related to getting in Google’s good graces. What seemed to be missing, though, was what needs to be done differently because of the new algorithms. Maybe one just needs to do more of what has always been right; that seems to be your message. But it also seems to fit a definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over, yet expecting different results.
Years ago I made the mistake of making AdSense my only income stream. There were good times and bad times, but even before May Day, I realized I was working too hard for what Google was paying me. I’m going to concentrate now on other sources of online income and see if I can find some things that make the work worthwhile.
Hi Lane
I dont think much needs to be done differently, I think a lot of us werent doing it.
People build 1k links to their site, all to the home page, 997 of them all being from things like profile links that never ever get indexed.
I am thinking of doing another video talking about how you need to think about your links.
Google adsense
I think that comes into what I have heard all my life, never put all your eggs in one basket..
Diversity of links, content and income streams is vital
Paul
Good video Paul. It the end it all boils down to the same thing – content and links. I don’t mind either, I just compare it with driving to work or having to work for someone else and in the end it’s no effort to sit down and write an article or two.
Cheers
Wendy
Hi Wendy
I think this is a great attitude, too many people I talk start off the conversation with “i hate writing” , well you need to decide if you hate writing more than you hate working for the man!
Paul
I’ve been looking at what I have done in the past two years and trying to improve on it. I think I have found some of my short falls and now I need to know how to fix them. It seems to have a lot to do with my depth of knowledge. I know about content and can write a good article but there seems to be something missing.
Linking is another subject that I know about but don’t understand enough to be able to be “automatic” about it. I need to fix this disconnect.
Thanks for the vid.
Hi Warren
Define “good” , I am playing devils advocate here not having a pop at you, but what is good? I find that when I use writers I have to explain how the article I want to use for ezine articles (who i rarely use) or for ezalinks or uaw are different from the ones I want for content.
Articles for distribution can be 300-400 words with less than 2% keyword density, but the site content I want to be 500-700 words, 2-3% density and I want to include related keywords as well so I can have good internal linking and of course it keeps the google gods happy.
Linking, I think that lots of people have been buying into throwing tons of links at the wall and not really understanding how links are valued (or not). I can feel more vids coming on..
Paul
Nice and relaxing video mate. Picked up a couple of gems in regards to internal linking so it was definitely worth my watching/listening.. whats that “thing” on the video at the end when it says conspiracy theory? The image, lol.
Anyway, thanks it was almost like spending an hour at your house.
Thanks Paul, some great stuff here. I suppose like a lot of folk on your blog, I to have lost about 80% of the adsence revenue from my old sites. No surprise really as they haven’t been touched for ages.
Sites were only made for adsence really so no worries. Most of my time has been spent on building my Internet Marketing site which I feel I have more control over. One things for sure “Google will suit Google” and as you say “we will have to adjust to their new rules”.
Someone suggested I check out CommentHut, which I just downloaded. Although I haven’t used it yet, it did lead me to this wonderfully informative video. A Google-change ago, not this last one, my website dropped from PR3 to PR2. From what I later found out, it was probably because of the links and/or content. I have tried to build it back up and it is rising considerably in the Alexa ranks, but it is still PR2 in Google.
I am new enough as far as IM and making money online that this video taught me a lot about internal and deep linking. I will be back later to take better notes and put into practice what you are teaching. It also taught me to quit throwing up niche sites with Amazon autopost, which I was just learning about recently, and start focusing on good solid content.
Thank you so much for your willingness to provide good solid information. And you are right, we need to be careful who we listen to. You may give us kick-in-the-pants honesty, but in the long run we will profit from your teaching.
Hi Edie
welcome aboard and I am glad you like the videos, I try not to mark everything I do by google PR. Try and look at your sites in relation to traffic and income. I know that the little green bar is easier to see but the best green is the one in your bank.
